Tomatillos are also known as the "husk tomato" and once you peel back the papery skin and use to make sauces or in stews, you'll see why. Their taste is very similar, but slightly more tart and less sweet (lower sugar content).
Tomatillos are picked while still young, so let them ripen on the counter before you eat them. You can watch the husk to tell when it's ripe: once it turns from green to light brown and starts to crack open, it's ready!
