Dill is a unique plant in that both its leaves and seeds are used as a seasoning. Dill's green leaves are wispy and fernlike and have a soft, sweet taste. Combine dill weed with plain yogurt and chopped cucumber for a delicious cooling dip. Use dill when cooking fish, especially salmon and trout, as the flavors complement one another very well. Also add dill weed as a garnish for sandwiches.
Store dill by snipping off the bases of the stems and removing any discolored or wilted leaves. Transfer them to a large mason jar with an inch of water in the bottom. Seal the jar with the lid (if it fits), or cover the top of the jar with an overturned plastic bag sealed with a rubber band. Store in the refrigerator.
