D’Anjou Pears are egg-shaped with a short neck. They have red skin and bright white flesh. They are very juicy and stay red when ripe, so the best way to check for ripeness is to gently push on the stem end and if it gives it’s ready to eat. These pears are delicious eaten raw and also hold up well to cooking. Enjoy as a snack, add them to salads, grill or bake them.
Keep unripe pears on the counter for a few days; store ripened pears in the fridge and they can last up to a couple weeks (depending on ripeness). Keep away from leafy greens and other fruit you don't want to ripen as they produce ethelyne.
