Okanogan Producers Marketing Association (WA)
The Nickajack apple tree is said to have originated on Cherokee land, and is named for Nickajack Creek on the banks of which the tree originally grew in 1853, but reports suggest its existence late 1700s. Nickajack apples are best as dessert and baking with its creamy-white flesh with a tinge of green under the skin, firm, coarse-grained and crisp, and sweet.
