As with Greek yogurt, many who are lactose intolerant can enjoy kefir as the bacteria feed on the lactose (milk sugars) turning it into lactic acid. Usually there is not enough lactose left over to affect those with the intolerance.
Kefir has over five different strains of probiotics (that's more than the usual two you get with yogurts!) and therefore those helpful microorganisms have more of a fighting chance to make it to your gut!
